Orosomucoid (ORM), or alpha1-acid glycoprotein, promotes new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). This acute phase protein enhances endothelial cell migration and supports VEGF-A-induced blood vessel growth in vitro and in vivo.

Background:
- Orosomucoid (ORM), also known as alpha1-acid glycoprotein (AGP), is an acute phase protein elevated during infection, inflammation, and cancer.
- ORM is produced by endothelial cells and detected in the urine of bladder cancer patients.
- The role of ORM in angiogenesis, or new blood vessel formation, remains unclear.
