Summary

Repeated corticosteroid injections for trigger digit can cause pulley rupture. Surgical repair involved tenolysis and reconstruction with the palmaris longus tendon.

Background:

Trigger digit, a common condition, is often treated with local corticosteroid injections.
Complications from these injections, though rare, warrant careful consideration.

Observation:

A case of pulley rupture in the hand following multiple corticosteroid injections for trigger digit is presented.
The rupture occurred in the flexor tendon sheath, impacting finger mobility.

Findings:

Surgical exploration revealed a complete pulley rupture.
Treatment involved tenolysis to free the tendon and reconstruction using the palmaris longus tendon graft.
This reconstructive approach restored digital pulley function.
