Background:

Healthcare systems often struggle to incorporate perspectives from vulnerable populations, such as individuals with disabilities or those of low socio-economic status.
Top-down policy approaches can hinder the inclusion of diverse consumer voices in health and healthcare discussions.

Purpose of the Study:

To demonstrate the effectiveness of providing cameras to patients and community members for public engagement.
To generate understanding of consumer, community, and health system problems and strengths through participatory visual methods.

Main Methods:

Utilized photo-elicitation and photovoice techniques in diverse cultural and political settings (Morocco and the United States).
Explored critical aspects including planning, data analysis, ethical considerations, and action-oriented outcomes.
