    Area of Science:

    • Optics and Photonics
    • Materials Science

    Background:

    • Holographic optical elements offer unique light manipulation capabilities.
    • Developing efficient multilayer holographic structures is crucial for advanced optical systems.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To implement stratified volume holographic optical elements (SVHOEs).
    • To investigate the angular sensitivity of multilayer holographic structures.
    • To validate experimental results with theoretical models.

    Main Methods:

    • Utilized DuPont's Omnidex holographic photopolymer material.
    • Employed an in situ exposure technique for simultaneous multilayer grating recording.
    • Performed experimental measurements of angular sensitivity for a seven-layer SVHOE.

    Main Results:

    • Experimental angular sensitivity showed strong agreement with theory and numerical simulations near the Bragg angle.
    • The angular sensitivity envelope of SVHOEs approximated that of a single modulation layer.
    • Demonstrated effective simultaneous recording of multiple holographic gratings.

    Conclusions:

    • The in situ technique enables efficient implementation of SVHOEs.
    • SVHOE performance is predictable and aligns with theoretical models.
    • These elements show potential for applications requiring precise angular selectivity.
