Abstract:
In Poland in 2006 and 2007 were reported 108 and 38 cases of hepatitis A respectively. Since 1997 noticeable downward trend of hepatitis A in Poland in 2006 and 2007 were continue. The incidence rate in 2007 was 0.09 per 100,000 population and represented 31% decrease compared to the preceding year 2006. Comparing the incidence across the regions, the highest and the lowest were observed in wielkopolskie voivodeship and podkarpackie voivodeship respectively in 2006 (0.68; 0.05). In 2007 the highest incidence were in mazowieckie voivodeship (0.17) and the lowest in lubelskie voivodeship (0.05). The most affected age groups were adults 25-29 years old in 2006 and 2007. In 2006--45.4% and 2007--52.8% cases were imported from intermediate and high-endemic countries.
