Summary

An indirect haemolysis test (IHT) using sheep erythrocytes sensitized with Coxiella burnetii lipopolysaccharide (LPS) proved highly sensitive and specific for diagnosing Q-fever. This serologic method is suitable for monitoring the chronic stages of Q-fever infections.
