Summary

A prostatic retention cyst near the bladder neck caused prostatitis-like symptoms in a 34-year-old man. Transurethral resection of the cyst resolved these symptoms, indicating a successful treatment for this rare condition.

  • Imaging (TRUS, MRI) and cystoscopy identified a prostatic cyst obstructing the bladder outlet.
  • Laboratory tests ruled out systemic inflammation and urinary tract infection.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed the lesion as a prostatic retention cyst.
  • Surgical intervention via transurethral resection of the cyst led to marked symptom improvement.

Implications:

  • Prostatic retention cysts should be considered in the differential diagnosis of prostatitis-like symptoms, especially in younger men.
  • Transurethral resection is an effective treatment modality for symptomatic prostatic retention cysts.
  • This case highlights the importance of advanced imaging in diagnosing rare prostatic pathologies.
