Area of Science:

  • Dentistry
  • Periodontology
  • Esthetic Dentistry

Background:

  • Excessive gingival display negatively impacts smile aesthetics.
  • Gingival enlargement and altered passive eruption are common causes.
  • Periodontal surgery offers effective correction for dentogingival issues.

Observation:

  • Two successful esthetic crown-lengthening surgeries were performed.
  • An acetate template was utilized to guide the surgical procedures.
  • The template aided in predicting outcomes for gingival contour symmetry and harmony.

Findings:

  • Acetate-guided surgery successfully corrected excessive gingival display.
  • The technique enhanced predictability of esthetic outcomes.
  • Achieved gingival contour demonstrated symmetry and harmony.
