  • Children with TS had a significantly higher prevalence of hypermetropia (farsightedness) compared to controls.
  • Amblyopia (lazy eye) was also more prevalent in the TS group.
  • Statistical significance was observed for both conditions (P = .035 for TS, P = .002 for controls).

Conclusions:

  • Hypermetropia appears to be a common feature associated with tuberous sclerosis.
  • Early detection and management of hypermetropia are recommended in children with TS.
  • This screening can help prevent amblyopia and preserve visual function.
