[Plastic reconstruction of defects in head and neck region through microsurgical free flaps]
Abstract:
The present reconstructive methods in plastic surgery include application of microsurgical techniques for reconstruction of tissue defects caused by various etiologic factors. In certain cases the free flaps turn to be the only therapeutic solution, or offer an alternative for achievement of a superior functional and aesthetic treatment. The opportunity for transfer of versatile tissues on microsurgical anastomoses, define the broad indications for the method application. We present several cases of free flap reconstructions of permanent tissue loss in head and neck region due to radical surgical treatment of neoplasms.
