- Spectroscopy
- Chirality Studies
Background:
- Chiral molecules exhibit unique optical properties crucial in various scientific fields.
- Understanding transient states of molecules requires advanced spectroscopic techniques.
- Ellipsometry is a powerful tool for characterizing optical properties of materials.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop and validate an original time-resolved broadband transmission ellipsometry setup.
- To enable the study of transient states in chiral molecules.
- To provide a versatile method for measuring optical rotary dispersion and circular dichroism.
Main Methods:
- Utilized an ultrafast pump-probe technique with a novel setup.
- Performed time-resolved broadband transmission ellipsometry.
- Incorporated a broadband quarter-wave plate for circular dichroism measurements.
Main Results:
- The setup successfully measures optical rotary dispersion over a wide spectral range.
- Circular dichroism can be measured by adding a broadband quarter-wave plate.
- The technique is effective for characterizing both transient states and the ground state of chiral molecules.
Conclusions:
- The developed setup offers a versatile and effective method for studying chiral molecules.
- This technique advances the capability for investigating molecular dynamics and optical properties.
- The setup's performance extends to ground-state characterization, enhancing its utility.
