Summary

Thalamic stroke patients showed significant impairments in time-based prospective memory (TBPM) but not event-based prospective memory (EBPM). This suggests the thalamus plays a crucial role in TBPM.

Main Results:

  • Thalamic stroke patients demonstrated significantly poorer performance on TBPM tasks (2.4 +/- 1.6) compared to controls (5.4 +/- 1.0).
  • No significant difference was observed between patients (3.7 +/- 1.1) and controls (4.3 +/- 1.5) on EBPM tasks.
  • Performance metrics for EBPM and TBPM are presented with standard deviations.

Conclusions:

  • The findings suggest the thalamus is involved in prospective memory.
  • Specifically, the thalamus appears to play a more critical role in time-based prospective memory than event-based prospective memory.
