  • Sixty-nine participants (48 with SB) completed validated German questionnaires on stress and coping.
  • SB diagnosis followed American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) criteria.
  • SB activity was quantified using the Bruxcore-Bruxism-Monitoring-Device (BBMD) over five nights.
  • Spearman correlation coefficients analyzed psychometric data against BBMD pixel scores.

Main Results:

  • Significant positive correlations were observed between SB activity and 'daily problems' (r = 0.461, p < 0.01).
  • Other significant correlations included 'trouble at work' (r = 0.293), 'fatigue' (r = 0.288), 'physical problems' (r = 0.288), and the coping strategy 'escape' (r = 0.295) (all p < 0.05).

Conclusions:

  • Higher SB activity is associated with increased perceived stress from work and daily life.
  • Individuals with high SB activity may utilize less adaptive coping mechanisms, such as 'escape'.
  • Further research is needed to establish a causal relationship due to moderate correlation coefficients and the study's descriptive nature.
