[Natural source of omega-3-linseed-oil: its particular qualities and metabolic changes in the organism]
Abstract:
The article provides the data on linseed-oil contained alpha-linolenic acid (C18:3), one of omega-3 family PUFA acids, and its metabolites in the body-ecosatrtraenoic acid (C20:5), docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6) and docosapentaenoic acid (C22:5). There was presented the role of all these acid in decreasing the risk of heart diseases, primarily the myocardial infartion and coronary heart disease. Food enrichment by linseed-oil alpha-linolenic acid was proposed.

Overview of Fatty Acid Metabolism
Fatty acids are catabolized in a process called beta-oxidation, which takes place in the matrix of the mitochondria and converts their fatty acid chains into two-carbon units of acetyl groups. The acetyl...

Blood Studies for Cardiovascular System III: Serum Lipid Profile
Serum lipids are fats and fatty substances in the blood and are crucial for various bodily functions, including energy storage, cellular structure, and hormone production. Serum lipids consist of cholesterol, triglycerides, and phospholipids.
Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like substance found in all body cells. It is crucial for producing hormones, vitamin D, and substances that aid...
