Summary

Bluetongue virus (BTV) serotype 9 was identified in Serbia and Montenegro in 2001, marking the first recorded incidence of this sheep disease in Yugoslavia. Field studies confirmed the outbreak, leading to laboratory diagnosis and virus isolation.
