Opticospinal MS (OSMS) in Asians shares features with neuromyelitis optica (NMO). While anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibodies are implicated in NMO, OSMS pathogenesis appears heterogeneous, involving both antibody-related and unrelated mechanisms.
