Student ratings are crucial for improving teaching quality but often rely on summative evaluations.
Formative evaluations, while beneficial, are rarely implemented due to time and administrative burdens.
Traditional formative evaluation methods face challenges with data aggregation and administrative investment.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate Twitter as a viable tool for implementing formative course evaluations.
To assess the feasibility of using a Web 2.0 application for frequent, low-effort student feedback.
To compare formative evaluations with traditional summative assessments.

Main Methods:

Utilized Twitter as a Web 2.0 tool for weekly formative course evaluations.
Conducted a pilot study followed by an experimental study.
Compared results from formative Twitter evaluations with offline and online summative evaluations.

Main Results:

Formative evaluations using Twitter yielded different results compared to summative end-of-term evaluations.
Online summative evaluations produced identical results to offline (paper-pencil) summative evaluations.
