- Transient paraproteins may interfere with TSH immunoassays, causing falsely elevated results.
- This interference can mimic or mask true thyroid dysfunction, complicating diagnosis.
- Clinicians should consider paraproteinemia in cases of unexplained TSH abnormalities, especially when discordant with clinical findings.
