Evaluation of rotational flow stabilized continuous electrophoresis for protein fractionation

Abstract:
A research group at Harwell Laboratory have invented a relatively large-scale electrophoretic separater, which uses angular momentum to stabilize the fluid flow against thermally induced mixing. An earlier review describes the device and shows potential industrial application. Additional experiments and modeling are reported here to help clarify its potential for industrial protein fractionation. The scale-up potential of the flow stabilization is not considered.
