Routine thyroid gland palpation can significantly alter serum thyroid hormone levels, including triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), and thyroglobulin (TG). These findings suggest thyroid hormone measurements should precede gland manipulation to prevent misdiagnosis.
