Summary

Chronic alcohol consumption sensitizes the heart to sepsis, leading to more severe cardiac dysfunction. This study found that even without direct heart damage, alcohol exacerbated sepsis-induced myocardial injury in rats.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To test the hypothesis that short-term alcohol feeding sensitizes the heart to sepsis.
