Readiness for self-directed learning among nursing students in Thailand

• To assess the self-directed learning readiness of undergraduate nursing students at Chiang Mai University, Thailand.
• To evaluate student preparedness for student-centered learning environments.

• Quantitative study involving 272 undergraduate nursing students.
• Utilized Guglielmino's Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale and a demographic questionnaire.

• Overall high levels of self-directed learning readiness were observed.
• Students scored highly in openness, self-concept as a learner, initiative, responsibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Conclusions:

• Nursing students in Thailand exhibit strong potential for self-directed learning.
• Findings encourage nurse educators to implement self-directed learning strategies to promote lifelong learning in nursing.
