Prophylactic antibiotics in maxillofacial fractures: a requisite?

Prophylactic antibiotics may not significantly reduce surgical wound infections (SWI) in maxillofacial fractures. This study found no difference in SWI rates across antibiotic and no-antibiotic groups, suggesting other factors like treatment delay are more influential.
