This case study suggests Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection may trigger systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in susceptible individuals. An acute CMV infection presented with symptoms mimicking mononucleosis and lupus.

- Treatment with methylprednisolone and ganciclovir led to symptom improvement.
