[Blepharocoloboma repaired with preserved scleral homograft]

40 cases of blepharocoloboma of various causes and sizes were repaired with preserved sclera and satisfactory results. The effective rate was 100%. Histological and immunological studies of scleral homografts in rabbits showed that slight cellular immunoreactions occurred in the early postoperative period; however, no graft was rejected, but gradually replaced by connective tissue of the recipient to become a structural and functional part of the eyelid.
