Summary

Combined cryotherapy and compression did not significantly improve outcomes after wrist arthroscopy. This study found no added benefit over standard care for pain, swelling, or motion in patients using the Cryo/Cuff device.

  • Outcomes assessed included pain (VAS), wrist volume, range of motion, and DASH score at postoperative days 1, 8, and 21.
  • Main Results:

    • The Cryo/Cuff group showed a 49% pain reduction versus 41% in the control group by postoperative day 21.
    • No significant differences were observed between groups in swelling or range of motion.
    • DASH scores showed no significant improvement in the Cryo/Cuff group compared to the control group.

    Conclusions:

    • Additional home-based cryotherapy and compression with the Cryo/Cuff wrist bandage did not significantly improve pain, swelling, range of motion, or subjective impairment over 3 weeks post-wrist arthroscopy.
    • The findings suggest no significant benefit of this combined therapy over standard care for patients undergoing wrist arthroscopy.
