    Summary

A novel white-light reconstruction setup for shearography was developed using optical-fiber waveguides. This compact system offers direct viewing of shearogram fringe patterns with enhanced illumination and minimal distortion.

    Area of Science:

    • Optical Engineering
    • Metrology
    • Waveguide Technology

    Background:

    • Shearography is a sensitive optical technique for non-destructive testing and deformation analysis.
    • Traditional shearography setups can be complex and susceptible to environmental factors like dust.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To present a compact and robust white-light reconstruction setup for shearograms.
    • To enable direct viewing of shearogram fringe patterns with improved illumination and reduced distortion.

    Main Methods:

    • Development of a white-light reconstruction system utilizing optical-fiber waveguides.
    • Integration of components to facilitate direct observation of 2D fringe patterns.

    Main Results:

    • The proposed setup is compact and resistant to dust and scratches.
