Can arterial stiffness parameters be measured in the sitting position?

Arterial stiffness measurements like pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (AI) can be reliably performed in a sitting position, similar to blood pressure checks. This study found good agreement between sitting and supine measurements across multiple devices.

Monitoring Both Arms:
Monitoring BP in both arms during the initial assessment is advisable, as the systolic value may differ by five to ten mm Hg between arms. For subsequent BP assessments, use the arm with the higher reading.
