Understanding these cognitive traits is crucial for diver selection and training.
Previous research has not fully elucidated the unique cognitive profiles of professional divers.

Purpose:

To investigate and analyze the cognitive quality of professional divers.
To compare the cognitive performance of professional divers with control groups, including common people, sailors, and trainee divers.

Summary:

165 professional divers were assessed using cognitive tests, including Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) and the 80.8 Neural Type Measuring Form.
Professional divers demonstrated significant age-related differences in nerve activity, cognitive style, attention, and spatial perception.
Compared to the general population, divers excelled in spatial perception and attention but were inferior in intelligence and reaction time.

Impact:

The findings highlight that the diving profession cultivates specific cognitive abilities.
This research can inform the development of targeted training programs and selection criteria for divers.
Understanding the cognitive impact of diving is essential for ensuring diver safety and performance.
