Coronary angioplasty in myocardial infarction
1Department of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor.
Abstract:
Criteria for emergency and elective use of the technique are evolving. Clinical trials have established the role of elective angioplasty after intravenous thrombolysis for patients with signs of spontaneous or inducible ischemia. On the other hand, prophylactic angioplasty in the first two days after thrombolysis appears to be undesirable in most cases.
