Obstructive airway disease and obstructive sleep apnea: effect of pulmonary function

Reduced pulmonary function is not an independent risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in patients with obstructive airway disease (OAD). Obesity, not lung function, drives the higher prevalence of OSA in OAD patients.
