[The patient following heart transplantation]

The 3-phasic postoperative course after heart transplantation is described. Early recognition of rejections is of utmost importance. Non-invasive techniques for diagnosis of rejections are shown but myocardial biopsy still seems to be the golden standard. Therapeutic measures are discussed.
