Summary

Iatrogenic ureteric injuries can occur during gynecologic surgery. Laparoscopic ureteroneocystostomy using a Boari flap successfully treated ureteric narrowing after hysterectomy.

Observation:

  • A 40-year-old female developed oliguria and elevated creatinine post-total abdominal hysterectomy.
  • Magnetic resonance urogram revealed ureteric narrowing as the cause.
  • The patient presented with symptoms indicative of post-operative urinary tract compromise.

Findings:

  • Successful management of post-hysterectomy ureteric narrowing was achieved.
  • Laparoscopic Boari flap ureteroneocystostomy provided a minimally invasive solution.
  • Restoration of normal renal function was observed post-procedure.

Implications:

  • Laparoscopic ureteroneocystostomy is an effective treatment for iatrogenic ureteric injuries.
  • Minimally invasive approaches can successfully manage complex surgical complications.
  • This case highlights the importance of prompt diagnosis and intervention for post-operative ureteric compromise.
