Gray matter volume decreases in elderly patients with schizophrenia: a voxel-based morphometry study

Aged patients with schizophrenia show reduced gray matter (GM) in the thalamus and prefrontal cortex. Unexpectedly, a large posterior brain region also exhibited GM atrophy, which worsened with age.
