[The functioning of the interferon system in mycosis fungoides patients undergoing different methods of therapy]

Studies of interferon status, carried out in patients with mycosis fungoides treated by different therapeutic schemes, included simultaneous determination of three major parameters: interferon circulating in the blood and ability for alpha-interferon production by the leukocytes and for gamma-interferon production by the lymphocytes. The ability of mononuclear cells for interferon production was found essentially depressed in the patients during all three stages of the diseases as against that in healthy donors. The results evidence that reaferon therapy restores cellular ability for alpha-interferon production, particularly so if prospidin is included in therapeutic schemes.
