Abstract:
Although lipomas are one of the most common soft tissue tumors found in the body, atypical lipomas remain a puzzling diagnostic dilemma. Their differential diagnosis from malignant lesions is imperative, but more important is understanding the correct surgical treatment. A thorough review of the literature, the pathology of the entity, and several illustrative cases are presented.
