Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) is a severe tick-borne illness caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a Gram-negative, coccobacillary bacterium. This pathogen is an obligate intracellular parasite, requiring a host cell for replication. Transmission occurs through the bite of an infected tick.   • Eight cases of equine rhabdomyosarcoma were analyzed, with primary sites including the head, abdominal wall, shoulder, and heart.
  • Tumor size significantly impacted treatment outcomes: smaller tumors (<10 cm) showed no recurrence after surgical excision or radiation.
  • Larger tumors (>10 cm) in the abdominal wall and shoulder were inoperable, leading to euthanasia.

Findings:

  • The majority of tumors were classified as embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, with one pleomorphic case identified.
