Summary

A rare case of congenital extensive skin comedones in an infant is presented. This condition did not match any previously documented disorders of childhood comedones.

Background:

  • Congenital and childhood comedones are rare conditions.
  • Differential diagnosis includes nevus comedonicus, familial dyskeratotic comedones, idiopathic disseminated comedones, childhood flexural comedones, and acne neonatorum.

Observation:

  • A 3-month-old boy presented with congenital and extensive skin comedones.
  • No extracutaneous manifestations were observed.

Findings:

  • The patient's presentation did not align with existing classifications of congenital or childhood extensive comedones.
  • This case represents a potentially novel presentation or subtype of comedonal disorder.

Implications:

  • Further research is needed to understand the etiology and classification of this condition.
