[An experimental study on the composite graft of ceramic xenogenic bone and bone morphogenetic protein]
1School of Stomatology, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an.
Abstract:
The ceramic bovine bones combined with bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) were implanted in the mandibular artificial defects of dogs. Observed by roentgenography, histology (Scanning electronic microscope and light microscope), and radioisotope scanning. The results confirmed that the composite bone possessed superior biocompatibility, osteoinductive and no obvious immunogenic reaction. One year later, the grafted bone and the new bone fused into each other with the histologic structure similar to the host bone. This is a new xenogenic bone graft material which may be used in clinic.
