Summary

This study found that using six categories for word sorting was harder than using three, but the number of categories did not impact word recall performance. More trials did not significantly improve memory retrieval in this sorting task.

The six-category sorting task was significantly more difficult than the three-category task.
The number of categories used did not significantly affect word recall performance.
The number of trials (5 or 10) also did not significantly influence recall outcomes.
Correlational analysis indicated a complex relationship between sorting strategies, recall, and clustering.

Conclusions:

Task difficulty, influenced by the number of categories, does not directly correlate with recall performance in this word-sorting paradigm.
The relationship between categorization, sorting consistency, and memory recall requires further investigation.
