Post-operative epilepsy and the efficacy of anticonvulsant therapy
1Mersey Regional Department of Medical and Surgical Neurology, Walton Hospital, Liverpool, U.K.
Abstract:
Several supratentorial pathologies, including anterior/middle cerebral artery aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, spontaneous intracerebral haematomas, meningiomas and abscesses, are associated with a high incidence of post-operative epilepsy. Prophylactic anticonvulsant therapy does not significantly reduce this incidence.
