Oligopeptides in the organization of feeding motivation: a systemic approach
1Anokhin Institute of Normal Physiology, Moscow.
Abstract:
The role of oligopeptides in the organization of feeding motivation is reviewed, with various peptides being shown to determine different aspects of the systemic organization of feeding. Several oligopeptides are essential for the transformation of the metabolic need for food into a motivational state or desire for food. Others enable the dominant feeding motivation to be translated into a behavioural response. Special oligopeptides are involved in the evaluation of the degree of satisfaction of the need for food.
