Super-resolution Fluorescence Microscopy01:37

Super-resolution Fluorescence Microscopy

Super-resolution fluorescence microscopy (SRFM) provides a better resolution than conventional fluorescence microscopy by reducing the point spread function (PSF). PSF is the light intensity distribution from a point that causes it to appear blurred. Due to PSF, each fluorescing point appears bigger than its actual size, and it is the PSF interference of nearby fluorophores that causes the blurred image. Various approaches to achieving higher resolution through SRFM have recently been developed.
Association Areas of the Cortex01:21

Association Areas of the Cortex

Association areas are regions of the cerebral cortex that do not have a specific sensory or motor function. Instead, they integrate and interpret information from various sources to enable higher cognitive processes such as memory, learning, and decision-making. Some key association areas include the following:
Prefrontal Association Area: This area is located in the frontal lobe and is involved in planning, decision-making, and moderating social behavior. It connects with primary motor areas,...
Quality Assurance01:19

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance is the overarching term used to describe the activities employed to ensure the proper performance of a system. These activities can be classified into three categories: quality control, quality assessment, and internal corrective measures. Typically, these activities work cyclically: quality control is performed before and during the analysis, while quality assessment occurs during and after the investigation. Internal corrective measures are implemented based on the findings...

Area of Science:

  • Family Medicine
  • Obstetrics
  • Medical Education

Background:

  • Family physicians play a vital role in community-based healthcare.
  • Access to obstetric care in rural and underserved areas is a persistent challenge.
  • Existing certification pathways may not fully address the scope of modern family physician obstetric practice.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To introduce a new certifying board for family physicians providing obstetric care.
  • To detail the updated certification requirements and their rationale.
  • To strengthen the capacity of family physicians in delivering comprehensive obstetric services.

Main Methods:

  • Review of current obstetric practice standards for family physicians.
  • Development of a new board certification curriculum and examination.
  • Establishment of criteria for eligible candidates and recertification.

Main Results:

  • A new board has been established to formally recognize and certify family physicians in obstetrics.
  • Specific requirements for initial certification and ongoing competency have been defined.
  • The board aims to ensure high-quality obstetric care is accessible within primary care settings.

Conclusions:

  • The new board certification will enhance the role and recognition of family physicians in obstetric care.
  • This initiative is expected to improve maternal healthcare access, particularly in underserved communities.
  • Physicians meeting these new standards will be better equipped to manage a wide range of obstetric conditions.
