The solitary pulmonary nodule

Although most asymptomatic solitary pulmonary nodules are benign, many are truly malignant. Age of the patient, history of antecedent infection or industrial exposure, and radiographic appearance and behavior are helpful in establishing the diagnosis. Invasive techniques and their indications are discussed as well as some of the growth characteristics of potentially malignant lesions.
