[The clinical value and methodological bases of a gross study of neonatal placentas]

A two-step study of placentas is proposed if departments of morbid anatomy have none or limited feasibility. A gross study of the organ's constituents is conducted by neonatologists at maternal hospitals in the first step and in a specialized department of morbid anatomy in the second one. Placental manipulations are differentiated between the neonatologists and pathologists. Additional coefficients have been elaborated and proposed to be clinically introduced. The paper emphasizes the importance of imaging assessment of placental abnormalities at maternal hospitals. The diagnosis of placental pathology in the first step favors the early prevention of diseases in newborn babies and puerperas.
