Distribution of Eppin in mouse and human testis

Mouse and human Eppin (epididymal protease inhibitor) expression is localized to differentiated spermatogonia in the testes. This finding supports the hypothesis that mouse Eppin protein is secreted by Sertoli cells and absorbed by spermatogonia.

Background:
- The human Eppin (hEppin) gene was identified in 2001 and later as a male immunocontraceptive target in 2004.
