Abstract:
The authors used the OKT monoclonal anti-T-lymphocyte antibodies to enumerate the T-cell subsets in the peripheral blood of 47 patients with anterior uveitis (AU) by indirect immunofluorescence assay. The T-cell proliferative response to PHA and IL-2 production of the patients were also studied. The results were that the patients with AU had higher percentage of OKT4 + cells, and the T4 +/T8 + ratio increased. The percentage of OKT4 + cells in patients with active AU was lower than in patients with inactive AU. The proliferative response to PHA and PHA-induced IL-2 production in patients with active AU decreased, while they were normal in patients with inactive AU.
