- Preparation of linear polystyrene-stabilized palladium nanoparticles (PS-PdNPs) using NaBH4 and phenylboronic acid.
- Catalytic evaluation in Suzuki and copper-free Sonogashira coupling reactions.
- Recycling tests to assess nanoparticle stability and activity.
Main Results:
- Palladium immobilization degree correlated with polystyrene molecular weight, but nanoparticle size remained unaffected.
- PS-PdONPs demonstrated slightly higher catalytic activity than PS-PdNPs in Suzuki coupling.
- PS-PdONPs exhibited high catalytic activity in both Suzuki and Sonogashira couplings in water.
- The nanoparticles were successfully recycled without any loss of catalytic activity.
Conclusions:
- Linear polystyrene is an effective stabilizer for palladium nanoparticles in aqueous catalysis.
