Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to provide the dental hygienist with basic information about hemophilia A and the blood coagulating replacement therapies that are available. In addition, an overview of possible complications that may be encountered when providing dental hygiene treatment for the hemophiliac is provided. A case report with recommended guidelines on providing dental hygiene care for the hemophilia A patient is included. The information in this paper is essential for the dental hygienist so that treatment modifications may be made to ensure safe and comprehensive dental hygiene care.
