Occupational exposures, including dust and fumes, significantly increase chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) risk, especially in populations with high tuberculosis prevalence. Smoking and tuberculosis are also major COPD risk factors.

- Smoking (OR 5.0-5.5) and tuberculosis (OR 7.7-8.1) were significant risk factors for COPD.

- Lifetime occupational exposures are significant contributors to COPD risk, independent of smoking.
- The findings highlight the importance of considering occupational exposures in COPD etiology, particularly in high tuberculosis burden settings.
